چکیده
Throughour screening programofbioactive secondary metabolites of microbial origin, we have isolated a new azaphilone-type metabolite, diazaphilonic acid (Fig. 1). In this paper, we report the taxonomy of the producing strain, production, isolation, physico-chemical properties and biological activities of diazaphilonic acid. The mycological characteristics of the producing fungal strain PF1195 (Fig. 2) were as follows. Yellow colonies grew rapidly at 25°C on Czapek-yeast extract agar and malt extract agar. Ascomatawere abundantly produced and conidiogenesis was sparse and inconspicuous. Ascomata were non-ostiolate, yellow, formed a telaperidium, and matured within 14 days. Ascomatal pp.412 414

The correlation between telomerase activity and Bax/Bcl-2 ratio in valproic acid-treated MCF-7 breast cancer cell line
Objective(s):Valproic acid (VPA), a drug used in the treatment of neurological disorders, has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cancer cells through different mechanisms. Telomerase, a ribonucleoprotein reverse transcriptase, is responsible for elongation of the telomere and is activated in cancers. A relation between telomerase activity and resistance to apoptosis has been established. T...
متن کاملSuppression of Telomerase Activity by Pyrimethamine: Implication to Cancer
Although pyrimethamine (Tindurin™) appears to be effective in the prevention and treatment of some infectious diseases, very little information exists on its unpredictable properties. We design this study to evaluate its anti-tumoral effect on a model of cell line. Methods: The cytotoxic influence of Pyrimethamine on prostate cell line was investigated using an in vitro colometric assay. The po...
متن کاملNanocurcumin-Mediated Down-Regulation of Telomerase Via Stimulating TGFβ1 Signaling Pathway in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cells
Background: Curcumin, extracted from turmeric, represents enormous potential to serve as an anticancer agent. Telomerase is viewed as a prominent molecular target of curcumin, and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGFβ1) has proven to be a major inhibitory signaling pathway for telomerase activity. In the current study, we aimed to explore suppressive effects of nanocurcumin on telomeras...
متن کاملThe Influence of Iron Loading and Iron Chelation on the Proliferation and Telomerase Activity of Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells
Background: Iron is an essential trace element in cell proliferation. Several investigations demonstrate that iron deprivation inhibits cell proliferation. However, the impact of iron on telomerase activity of activated lymphocytes remains unexplained to date. Objective: In this study, the effect of iron on the proliferation and telomerase activity of lymphocytes stimulated by phytohemagglutini...
متن کاملCytotoxic effects of caffeic acid undecyl ester are involved in the inhibition of telomerase activity in NALM-6 human B-cell leukemia cells
Our previous study reported that caffeic acid undecyl ester (CAUE) has a potent cytotoxic effect and induces apoptosis in NALM-6 cells, but not in normal human lymphocytes. The majority of normal human cells have no detectable telomerase activity, however, activity is commonly detected in cancer cells. Thus, inhibiting telomerase activity and inducing apoptosis may have a selective effect on ca...
